Tinashe is an experienced soft commodities analyst, agricultural value chain and trade specialist who has worked in this capacity both as a researcher and a practitioner in the private sector over the past 10 years. His areas of expertise include value chain development, market and trade analysis, agro-food system analysis, research and policy advocacy.
Tinashe works with the Southern African Trade and Investment Hub (The Hub) as a Trade and Value Chain Economist and is a Trade Economics Advisor for Genesis Analytics. He is also a Trade Advisor to Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) where he provides technical guidance and support for South Africa’s private sector on trade related positions and negotiations. Tinashe serves on the Boards and Executive Committee of several companies in the private sector.
Tinashe previously worked for the Agricultural Business Chamber (Agbiz) to champion favourable trade and investment policies for the private sector. He has also worked at the Bureau for Food and Agricultural Policy (BFAP) and the Trade and Industry Policy Strategies (TIPS). He previously served as the Deputy Chair for the Trade Policy Committee at Business Unity South Africa (BUSA), and also served as part of the Agricultural Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) Technical Working Group on Trade and Markets, among various other roles in South Africa and the region.
He obtained his PhD in Agricultural Economics at the University of Pretoria (2018), MSc Agricultural Economics at the University of Pretoria (2011), and BSc (Hons) Agricultural Economics at the University of Zimbabwe (2007).
